In my opinion, the best definition of a marketing strategy was given by A.G. Lafley, the former CEO of Procter & Gamble. He said: 'find out what she wants and give it to her'.
It encompasses all the key marketing mix elements. Knowing who your customers are, or who they should be. Research and have insight into their needs and wants. Be able to produce what they want. And last but not least, have effective means to tell them about your product, and efficient distribution channels to reach the customers to sustain your business. In this respect, providing good laundry detergents (as Procter & Gamble) or anti-virus software is the same. Find out what the customer wants and give it to them. Which, for computer users, is dependable, light, fast, non-obtrusive and free protection. AVAST has built its freemium business model around those requirements and over the years become the most popular anti-virus in the world.
