Security 2012: staying ahead of the game (sponsor presentation)

Robert Lipovsky ESET
Juraj Malcho ESET

This presentation opens a window into ESET's Malware Research Lab, giving an airing to some of the more interesting malware topics to have crossed our desktops recently. Threats that fall into the 'non-Windows' category have merited particular attention this year, but we will also consider some of the ways in which less technical aspects of malware and cybercrime are evolving. Important though it is to understand the nuts and bolts of malicious technology, there are (increasingly) areas of malicious activity where security software is not always effective. We therefore also consider ways in which malicious social engineering might be countered by old-fashioned social engineering of the educational kind.
