Despite many efforts to normalize the naming conventions and taxonomy of the AV world, we are still without a basic vocabulary. What is meant when we say that a machine is 'infected'? What exactly is a 'quarantine'? What constitutes a 'repair'? a 'cleaning'? Without agreeing on the meaning of names, are we even able to know what we are talking about? Is this an advantage? David Perry and other well known members of the community will attempt to cut through the virtual babel and strike out towards an understood glossary of AV terminology.
