Zombies in corporate networks spotted pumping out spam.
Network security company Support Intelligence has found evidence of bot-infected zombies sending spam from within many of the leading corporations on the US Fortune 1000 list.
Monitoring systems are said to have detected spam originating from within networks belonging to database giant Oracle, hardware and software behemoth HP and leading US electronics retail chain Best Buy, among many others. A blogger at Support Intelligence has promised '30 days of bots', with a new major company revealed to be hosting spam zombies every day.
The first to be discussed in detail is manufacturing colossus 3M, which was found to have a machine on its network sending pump-and-dump image spam. A detailed report on the findings of the survey can be found at The Register, here.
