Child porn blackmail spam carries trojan

Posted by   Virus Bulletin on   Aug 24, 2006

Spoof mail claims to come from anti-child porn site.

A spam campaign claiming to come from child porn activists ASACP accuses recipients of visiting child porn sites, suggesting a donation to the organisation will persuade them to take no further action. Although the tone of the mail is mild, the implied threat is clearly intended to scare readers into investigating further.

Attached to the email is a zip file, claiming to hold details of transactions involving the target, but in fact containing a trojan which installs browser helper objects.

The ASACP site currently carries warning banners at the top of several pages - see here.
