Mobile phone virus replicates via MMS
Researchers have reported a mobile phone virus that appears to be the first virus to replicate via MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) messages.
The virus, which has been named CommWarrier, runs on the Symbian Series 60 platform and attempts to spread via both MMS and Bluetooth.
Although reports indicate that the virus is spreading only very slowly, MMS is a very popular technology - particularly among the younger generation of mobile phone users - and analysts believe that a virus that spreads via MMS has the potential to spread as rapidly as a mass-mailing email worm.
